About the Event

Join Nancy Malina (Certified Nutritionist) and Samir Shageer (Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner) for an insightful and life transforming series of workshops on Ayurveda and nutrition.

Ayurveda, "The Science of Life", is a collection of knowledge originating in India that dates back to more than 7000 years. Imbodied in the ancient scriptures is an intricate system of medicine as well as elaborate principles of cooking and nutrition.

Workshop Dates:

Sat, June 15th: Introduction to Ayurveda and Nutrition (10am -1pm)

Sat, June 22nd: Understanding your Ayurvedic body type

Sat, August 3rd: Ayurvedic Nutrition and Cooking (10am - 1pm)

Sat, September 14th: Ayurveda and Jyotisha (Vedic Astrology) - Understanding how the cosmic forces affect our body type and personal cycles

$25 per class or $95 for the series of four classes

Includes free Ayurvedic cookie samples

Samir is a certified Ayurvedic Practitioner who specializes in "Rasayana", Ayurvedic rejuvenative therapy. He became certified by NAMA (National Ayurvedic Medical Association) after extensive study at "Narayana Ayurveda and Yoga Academy" in the US and "Uttaranchal Ayurvedic College" in India. Over the years, he has successfully helped many clients to live a healthy, happy and more fulfilling life.

Nancy Corwin Malina, MS, CNS specializes in nutrition, herbal remedies and aromatherapy counseling. In 2013, she received her Masters of Science in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport, graduating summa cum laude. Since moving to Ithaca in 2014, she joined the Well-Being Healing Center and counsels clients of all ages on nutrition and lifestyle. In addition, Nancy worked at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County, creating and conducting workshops for parents and children with food allergies and intolerances. She has lectured for the Cornell Dining staff on health and nutrition. She currently serves as Board President for Racker in Tompkins, Tioga and Cortland counties.
